Eight Ways To Reduce Your Web and Blog Page Bounce Rates
Are you familiar or do you subscribe to Google Analytics?
Google Analytics shows you how people found your site, how they explored it, and how you can enhance their visitor experience. With this information, you can improve your website return on investment, increase conversions, and make more money on the web. Don’t have an Analytics account? Sign up now.
One of the component of Google Analytic on your website or blog profile is Bounce Rate. Bounce Rate is the percentage of single-page visits or visits in which the person left your site from the entrance (landing) page. Use this metric to measure visit quality - a high bounce rate generally indicates that site entrance pages aren't relevant to your visitors. The more compelling your landing pages, the more visitors will stay on your site and convert.
If your bounce rate is below 20 or 30% you probably have a very good entry page. In some cases you may want only a precisely targeted visitor group to proceed beyond the entry page. If not, a bounce rate of over 50 or 60% requires immediate attention. Here are eight ways to reduce the bounce rates...
1. Improve your web page headline
Most times a wrong web or blog page headline can make the visitor quickly click the back button. Your headline should make the visitor want to continue reading. See creating good headlines.
2. Add Videos, pictures or screen shots that will catch attention
Adding a nice screen shot of your product or a photo will cause visitors to give a second look. Use a good caption below the picture to grab their attention and make them interested.
3. Change your website design
If your bounce rates are way too high, a new web site design may help. Go for a simple, practical but decent looking design.
4. Improve the web page load time
Is your web page loading too slow? Remove unwanted images or optimize the images. Get rid of all unused style elements

5. Target the right visitors
Are your site visitors coming to your site with the wrong expectation? You may have optimized your web page for the wrong keywords or others may be linking to your site with an incorrect anchor text. Use a software like Secret Keywords (for semantic keywords) and Good Keywords to find better keywords. If you are using Pay Per Click, make sure that your advertisement text is precisely targeted. Try different ad combination till your bounce rate improves.
6. Remove Annoyances
Does your web page have anything that annoys your visitors? What is annoying is highly subjective. So you should have a good understanding of your target customer. A simple rule is to always make everything very easy for your visitors.
7. Change from hard-sell to soft-sell
Are you trying to hard-sell your product when a soft sell is more ideal? This is a very common reason for customers to leave immediately. Your product pricing is also an important factor that contributes to a high bounce rate. The way you present your product is very important if it is an expensive product.

8. Provide more choices
If you have other products or services provide links to those. Add a prominent button, make a nice looking graphical banner or stamp that will catch their attention and so on. Be careful with this though. Too many choices can cause visitor confusion and make genuine prospects click away to a different but wrong product.

you should also turn strategic keywords into Bold, or marker them with a different background so the surfers who come via search engines will see their keywords before anything else.
hi you are right making it bold...i visited your blog but sad to say you dont have english translation, maybe you should provide translation for your readers. thanks for the tips.
I have heard about Google analytics but thanks for giving all the details.Really helped me a lot.
Web or blog page headline is very important. It can make or break your website.Illustrations or animations form another important part.Infact all the points you have mentioned here are essential ones.Thanks.
You mentioned Videos and images on homepage . However so many blogs, i see nowadays with videos are all over using of this tactics. When pages are filled with Youtube videos , they do nothing but making the page load after several minutes, which will in turn lead to more bounces .
Then use good quality, fresh content on your website, if you want visitors to stick around, your content should be worth reading and regularly updated. This also ensures that your content gets linked to from other sites, which will in turn increase your traffic.
Also have have clear navigation, if you want visitors to engage with your site and explore it more deeply, make sure your site navigation menu is easy to find and easy to understand.
Update your content regularly, if you have content that is dated, consider adding some new information. Check your analytic to see which pages have the highest bounce rate and revisit the page copy for these pages.
Interesting list of things you can procede to in order to have people sty on your site.
I would also mention the importance of the content, which has to match tot the title of the page and with how the people find the page.
Nice post......it is a great way to get the back links of the site to increase the visibility of site in SERP. . Keep up the good work!
I think it is just all about the quality of the conent, right?
We all know, that content is king :)
Jason Fladlien
Yeah, I, Kim Roach, agree with Jason Fladlien. Jason Fladlien said it is all about the quality of content.
When I write higher quality posts, comments, emails, create higher quality products and so on, people like me more.
They not just like me more - they start loving me! That's a very nice situation to be in, isn't it? I think it definitely is...
For example, in 2010 was released a product called Instant Internet Lifestyle. It is recordings from $997 workshop and now it sells for just $19.95. People go crazy with it... Many people said it was the best product that they've ever purchased. If you look at the product, you will understamd what I mean.
The same is with my product called Traffic Dashboard. It is a very high quality product and people go crazy when they buy it.
Your Keywords should be specifically targeted for the content on your site. Bounce rates are also influenced by wrongly optimized keywords. Consider a post title like this, “Top 15 Twitter Tools for Twitter Freaks“. And you optimize this post title with wrong keywords like “Twitter Hacks” or “Twitter’s New Service”. This makes the users annoy and they won’t visit that page/site later.
